Employee Satisfaction Yields Better Results During the Covid-19 Pandemic
“Let’s see what is new today” is the new buzz that people are used to, which might be filled with excitement for some and apprehension for others. As times change, we as humans are made to face new sets of challenges which makes us competitive to survive.
Every business must be based on consumer
satisfaction, but before that it must take better care of its employees
especially in testing times like these. When we analyze how the business world
has mastered new strategies, the evolution that is visible today may seem
simple and effortless, but the reality is far from this.
Employees are the essential core of every
organisation and irrespective of the position they hold, everyone has an
important role to play.
The definition of employee satisfaction,
employer-employee relationship and the hierarchy of the organisation is not the
same now as it used to be. In the present scenario, when things should have
taken a nosedive, leaders answered differently.
When we examine the changes that have taken place
especially with regard to the employees, some important factors are noteworthy.
1)
Transparency between superiors and
employees has resulted in better working conditions. Appropriate measures taken
by the Organisations to adapt to the Covid-19 crisis has resulted in the greater
trust from the side of the employees.
2)
The outcome of the commitment shown by the
organisation towards its employees is better seen through the wellbeing and
effective working of the employees.
3)
Boosting confidence, proper recognition and
catering to basic needs are the right actions.
Every employee is different in their own way hence, it is necessary to
recognize their needs in order to work around it.
4)
There is a heightened level of scrutiny on
the health and safety of the employees. The organisation focuses not just on
the physical conditions of the employee but only on their mental health as both
are equally important. Satisfied employees mean greater dedication and higher
success rate, as it gives them a reason to increase their contribution.
5)
Work from home helps the employees to give
in better results as there is no issue of commuting and flexibility reduces
work pressure.
6)
Creative activities, providing individual
space, holding webinars, online trainings, communication therapies, appraisal
meetings, festive celebrations and many more keep the employees engaged.
7)
Sound leadership is necessary to handle
situations because maintaining normalcy and helping subordinates to function is
not a small task. The organisation needs to be the pillar the employees can
hold onto.
8)
Introducing new routines, targets, work
expectations and performance appraisal, keep head in the game.
9)
Encourage interaction, asking help, guidance
and support among employees as well as with superiors.
10)
Take note of the impact of the Covid-19 crisis
on the employees and help them balance work.
Apart from all this, greater challenges rest in
staying focused and helping the organisation sustain. Organisations that
considered social interactions and invested in social capital beforehand would have better control over situations today.
New Policies and goals must align with the
organisational setup and yet at the same time make sure that employees are on
the same page too.
